Protect Our Care: Rapid Response & Advocacy in a Shifting Political Landscape

Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation
March 20, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Harvard Law School + Google Map

Harvard Law School, Milstein East

Repealing and replacing the ACA has been one of the top priorities of the Trump Administration and the current Congress.  In response to the conservative assault on the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, several prominent health care, social, and economic justice groups formed the Protect our Care coalition to give voice to the millions of individuals who depend on these programs to access needed health care.  This panel  gathers representatives from the organizations leading the coalition including Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, Community Catalyst, FamiliesUSA, and National Health Law Program, to give an overview of the health care policy landscape and discuss advocating for access to care over the last several months.  Representatives will also discuss their own experiences of working within health care policy and thoughts on careers in “hot topic” policy areas.  A must for people interested in health care, careers in advocacy, or coalition building.

Panelists:

  • Hannah Katch, Senior Policy Analysis, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
  • Caitlin Morris, Director of Affordability Initiatives, FamiliesUSA
  • Robert Restuccia, Executive Director, Community Catalyst
  • Wayne Turner, Senior Attorney, National Health Law Program
