Examining Hepatitis C Treatment Access: What Nurses Need to Know

Wednesday, August 12, 2015 – 1:00 – 2:00 pm EST

The development and approval of direct acting antiretrovirals for Hepatitis C is rapidly changing the paradigm of hepatitis diagnosis, treatment and cure for the millions of Americans who suffer from HCV. However, the high cost of treatment has led many Medicaid programs across the country to implement treatment access restrictions, including in some instances, restricting the ability of APRNs to prescribe. The restrictions unfairly limit access and are not based on clinical evidence.

Join the Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation of Harvard Law School, the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable and ANAC to learn about current restrictions on access to sofosbuvir (Sovaldi), through a nationwide study and report* of Medicaid policies for the treatment of hepatitis C virus.

Learn how you can utilize this information to expand access to the HCV cure in your state from the following expert presenters:

  • Ryan Clary, Executive Director, National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable
  • Robert Greenwald, Director, Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation; Harvard Law School
  • Carole Treston, Chief Nursing Officer, Association of Nurses in AIDS Care
